Project Space Presents: “Calligraffiti Throw-Ups” Exhibition

Artist Niels “Shoe” Meulman presents his new exhibition titled “Calligraffiti Throw Up” at the Project Space Gallery in Los Angeles. Shoe gained notoriety with his unique style called Calligraffiti, which combines calligraphy with graffiti creating a script like art style. The artist talent was crafted amongst greats such as Keith Haring, which has allowed Shoe to have a successful career beyond that of graffiti. This exhibit displays a series of carbon acrylic on linen canvas and was inspired by the artist’s love if basketball and the unconsciousness of the galaxy. The exhibit opens with an opening reception Oct 21 and goes through Nov 21.

Louis Vuitton City Guides 2011

Continuing to focus of the travellers market, Louis Vuitton is perhaps best known for its luxury line of monogram luggage. Adding value to their demographic, the fashion house is to release a series of city guides for 2011, as previewed here. Set to drop on October 15, there will be 7 guides which detail the following destinations respectively: Rome, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Tokyo, Paris and Berlin. To commemorate the launch of the books, Louis Vuitton has produced a series of 2 minute clips that preview the guides which will offer advice regarding food, art, design and of course, fashion.

Toshiba REGZA 3D TV

Toshiba unveil the world’s first LCD TVs that offer comprehensive 3D capabilities without any need for dedicated glasses. The new “Glasses-less 3D REGZA GL1″ series offers two models with screen sizes specifically designed for personal use: the 20-inch 20GL1 and the 12-inch 12GL1. Both TVs will be available in Japan from the end of December 2010. The new 3D TVs with no need for glasses employ an integral imaging system and a perpendicular lenticular sheet to display smooth, natural images, and Toshiba’s image processing technology to create nine parallax images from the original content and create to 3D images. The result is precise rendering of high quality 3D images whatever the viewing angle within the viewing zone.

Following a large scale and ultimately very well-received showing in Hong Kong as part of his “PassingThrough” exhibition, KAWS picks up where he left off with this preview into his forthcoming Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin exhibition. Set in Paris, the exhibition’s first piece sees a return of KAWS’ signature re-appropriation of pop culture and in this case, SpongeBob SquarePants. The Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin exhibition is set for November 6th
